Scottish Premiership Side Celtic To Combine Stadium Wi-Fi With In-Play Betting

Scottish Premiership side Celtic, which became the U.K.’s first fully Wi-Fi enabled football ground, "is scoring another first" by combining its stadium Wi-Fi with in-play betting, according to Aaron Gourley of FC BUSINESS. Sports Revolution, which developed the CelticLIVE fan app, "partnered with Unibet to allow fans to bet from their smartphones while watching the game." Unibet "will offer a wide range of odds to fans logged onto CelticLIVE, including in-play odds linked to live events as they unfold, such as penalties, cautions, next scorer and result predictions." CelticLIVE "has been a hit with fans, downloaded over 50,000 times and over 155,000 fans registering to the stadium" Wi-Fi. More than 79,000 videos "have been played through the app" and shared content on social media has allowed #celticlive to reach 4.7 million fans via Twitter. Access to betting sites via Celtic Park’s stadium Wi-Fi "has been blocked so far, but will now be possible with Unibet" (FC BUSINESS, 11/21).
