Austrian Football Club Rapid Vienna Reports Small Profit Of $225K For '13-14

Austrian top flight football club Rapid Vienna "reported a small profit for the '13-14 season," according to the KURIER. The club "released its financial results on Wedneday." According to the report, the club generated €180,000 ($225,000) and "was able to reduce its negative capital" to around €1.28M ($1.6M). Rapid Vienna made a profit of €2.86M ($3.6M) "thanks to its participation in the UEFA Europa League." However, the club lost €5.65M ($7.1M) in domestic competitons. The reason the club made an overall profit is due to player transfers, which generated income of €2.97M ($3.7M). For the current season, Rapid Vienna "expects a loss based on the fact that it failed to qualify for the Europa League and its temporary relocation to the Ernst Happel Stadium" (KURIER, 11/19).
