The three newly elected members are Allianz Germany CEO MARKUS REIß, Bayern Munich SVP RUDOLF SCHELS and UniCredit board member THEODOR WEIMER (Bayern Munich). ... Lotte Group Chair SHIN DONG-BIN took the Korea Ski Association's presidential post which has been vacant for a year. The KSA said its "17 present members out of 18-people general assembly approved Shin," who ran unopposed. This is the "first time that the 59-year-old tycoon took the chief post of a sports association." He has been serving as the Federation of Korean Industries Vice President and Korea-Japan Economic Association VP (KOREA TIMES, 11/11). ... Former Japanese men's national football coach TAKESHI OKADA has become the owner of FC Imabari in the regional Shikoku football league. He acquired a 51% stake in the team's operation. The amateur club launched as Onishi Soccer Club in '76 (YOMIURI SHIMBUN, 11/11).
COACHES/MANAGERS: Liga MX side Veracruz announced that it has dismissed coach CRISTOBAL ORTEGA and hired CARLOS REINOSO as his replacement (LA AFICION, 11/10). ... Uruguayan side Peñarol named PAOLO MONTERO its new coach. Montero replaces JORGE FOSSATI, who resigned on Monday after the club's 2-1 loss to Nacional (TELAM, 11/11). ... Former ManU Manager DAVID MOYES has been named manager of La Liga side Real Sociedad. It is the 51-year-old's first job since he was "sacked as United manager in April after a 10-month spell in charge." Moyes replaces JAGOBA ARRASATE, who was dismissed after a "poor run of form which currently sees them lie 15th in La Liga" (BBC, 11/11). ... Swedish coach SVEN-GORAN ERIKSSON has quit his job as manager of Chinese Super League club Guangzhou. The club announced that the Swedish int'l "would not renew a contract." Eriksson, who joined Guangzhou in June '13, is
"reportedly talking with a Shanghai-based club to continue his career in
China" (CHINA DAILY, 11/10).
