Three Indian Premier League franchisees "have reported a profit" in the year ending March 31, according to Narayan, Choudhary & Leena of LIVEMINT. Playing matches in new locations, which helped ticket sales, and higher central sponsorship income from the Board of Control for Cricket in India "seemed to have given a major boost to revenues in the sixth edition of the popular Twenty20 cricket tournament." However, moving some matches to the UAE because of the Indian general election along with a drop in TV viewership, which led some sponsors to shy away from the tournament, "may end up affecting profitability in the seventh edition." Jaipur IPL Pvt. Ltd, which owns the Rajasthan Royals, reported a profit of Rs. 14.5 crore in the year ending Dec. 31 compared with Rs. 11.95 crore a year ago. Knight Riders Sports, which owns the Kolkata franchisee, "also kept up its profit-making run" while GMR Sports, which runs Delhi Daredevils, reported its "first profit in four years." IndiaWin Sports Pvt. Ltd, which runs Mumbai Indians, narrowed its loss to Rs. 5.04 crore (LIVEMINT, 11/10).
