Bolton Chair Flies To Thailand Amid Reports Asian Businessmen Want To Buy Club

League Championship side Bolton Chair Phil Gartside "has flown out to Thailand amid reports that Thai businessmen want to buy" the club, according to Liam Blackburn of the PA. Talk of a takeover at Wanderers "first emanated from Asia last week" when media company BEC-Tero Managing Dir Brian Marcar "publicly expressed an interest in the team." Gartside "had originally cooled such speculation by telling the Bolton News that Marcar's quotes came as a 'complete surprise' to him." At a press conference on Monday morning, Wanderers Manager Neil Lennon confirmed that "Gartside had now gone to Thailand for further discussions." Lennon: "I don't know about selling it but I know he's away in Thailand to discuss a proposition from some Thai businessmen. What that is, I've no idea. What the ins and outs of it are, I don't know. I'll know more when Phil comes back" (PA, 11/3).
