Marketplace Roundup: NBA Signs Partnership With New Zealand Telecom Spark

The NBA and telecom Spark New Zealand Trading Ltd. announced a marketing partnership in New Zealand (Spark). ... The Association of Surfing Professionals announced it appointed Accelerate Sport Ltd. as its commercial sales agents for South Africa and the rest of the continent. ASP currently has three events in South Africa and is looking to add further events, not only in South Africa but at key destinations throughout Africa (Accelerate Sport). ... Malawi mobile phone service provider TNM on Friday donated a 7M kwacha ($15,000) check to the Malawi Olympics Committee. The money is supposed to assist in the running of the mini-Olympics tournament slated for late November (MALAWI NEWS AGENCY, 10/29). ... British Basketball League club Leicester Riders entered into a partnership with Roberts Travel Group to become the club's official travel partner (Leicester Riders). ... French bank Societe Generale "has become the first title sponsor" of the Singapore Cricket Club Int'l Rugby 7s in a two-year deal (CNA, 10/30). ... The Great Britain cycling team's road and track users will use Lazer's high-performance racing helmets in the run up to the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games after British Cycling announced an extension to its relationship with Madison. The deal also includes support for British Cycling's Go-Ride development program, which introduces young riders to bike racing and advances their bike handling skills (British Cycling). ... A football team sponsored by pornography site Pornhub has "been banned from competing at Kent University." A team named The Rutherford Raiders initially had the logo of the website placed on its shirts "as a joke," but PornHub found out and offered to sponsor it for real. Kent University "will not permit Rutherford Raiders to wear a shirt which has been deemed offensive" (EUROSPORT, 10/30). ... The Rugby Football Union announced EY as the official professional services supplier to England Rugby. Supporting the RFU in the run up to the Rugby World Cup in '15, EY has been appointed to work closely with departments across the organization beyond the corporate functions (RFU).
