Ecuadorian Football Club Deportivo Quito President Pays Off Debt; Suspended Game Rescheduled

Ecuadorian first division side Deportivo Quito will "be able to play on Sunday against Emelec" after club President Joselito Cobo "paid off the debt that had suspended the game as of last Friday, preventing the Quito club from playing Emelec last Sunday," according to EL UNIVERSO. Last week, the Ecuadorian Football Federation's (FEF) Discipline Committee had "credited Emelec with three goals and three points for the victory." After Deportivo paid "what was owed to its creditors," the FEF lifted the sanctions against the club and "Deportivo saved itself from relegation." FEF President Luis Chiriboga indicated that Cobo "paid with some of his personal assets and also with a check from the club's TV rights" (EL UNIVERSO, 10/21).
