Serie A Side Genoa President Challenges Italian Law Requiring Clubs To Pay For Security

Serie A side Genoa President Enrico Preziosi "has challenged an Italian law that requires the club to pay for stadium security," according to SO FOOT. Recently, an anti-violence law was adopted by the Italian government, but for Preziosi, the "part of the law concerning stadium security is unfair." Preziosi said, “Why should we pay for the behavior of others? This is a public service and if someone is behaving badly, the club cannot be held responsible. I do not think that public policy should be administered by the club. Inside the stadium, we have made a lot of progress. We play our role in identifying those who come for reasons other than football. I do not think it’s difficult, I think that these people are already well-known to the police forces” (SO FOOT, 10/20).
