Event Notes: Cyclone Forces Cancelation Of India-West Indies One-Day International

India has postponed Tuesday's third one-day int'l against West Indies because of Cyclone Hudhud. The 127 mph cyclone "has been pounding India's eastern coast near the city of Visakhapatnam." The match "will not be rescheduled, with the series -- originally five matches -- due to resume in Dharamsala on Friday" (BBC, 10/12). ... A-League officials "are expecting several crowd records to fall this weekend as the national competition attempts to build momentum following a successful opening last weekend." Some of the records tipped to fall include:

  • The highest aggregate attendance for an A-League round. The record stands at 100,998 for last season's opening week.
  • The biggest crowd for a Sydney derby. That record stands at 40,388, set last season (THE AUSTRALIAN, 10/14).
