JOSE MANUEL DE LA TORRE has been named coach of Liga MX side Chivas, "13 months after leaving Mexico’s national team on the brink of elimination" in qualifiers for the 2014 World Cup. He was handed a three-year contract at Chivas, which is currently in 16th place in Liga MX (GOAL, 10/7). ... Bundesliga side Hamburg SV has appointed FRANK WETTSTEIN as its new CFO. In addition, Wettstein will join the club's board members on Nov. 15 (HSV). ... Nike Golf President CINDY DAVIS, the "first woman to be named president of a major golf equipment company and still the highest ranking female executive in the game, announced her retirement" on Tuesday afternoon. Nike announced that a successor to Davis "will be named at a later date" (GOLFDIGEST, 10/7). ... County Championship cricket side Lancashire has appointed former England one-day coach ASHLEY GILES as its cricket director and head coach. Giles replaces MIKE WATKINSON, "who stepped down as cricket director on Monday, ending a 32-year association with the Red Rose county." After his spell as England limited-overs coach, Giles was "overlooked" in favor of PETER MOORES as the national team's head coach (BBC, 10/7). ... Australian sports analytics company Catapult named former Stats LLC Senior VP/Sports Solutions BRIAN KOPP President of North American Operations. Kopp left Stats in August. He will operate out of Chicago, where he has been based, and open an office there. Catapult focuses on analytics through wearable tech, such as sensors embedded into jerseys, and uses that data to advance injury prevention and knowledge about player wellness. Thirteen NBA teams are among Catapult's client base. While at Stats, Kopp helped broker a deal between that company and Catapult to sell a combined analytics product to NBA teams that advanced beyond Stats' league-level partnership. Catapult also named former U.K.-based analytics company Prozone Managing Dir BARRY MCNEILL to lead its European operations (Eric Fisher, Staff Writer).
