Real Madrid Signs Partnership With Colombian University Sergio Arboleda

Former Spanish footballer and Real Madrid Dir of Institutional Relations Emilio Butragueño signed an alliance with Colombian university Sergio Arboleda to "deepen sports research through master's degrees," according to the EFE. The courses in sports administration, the first of which will be named after Alfredo Di Stéfano, will start in '15 as part of Real Madrid-Universidad Europea's Escuela Universitaria int'l masters program, which is now represented in 13 countries. Butragueño said, "Our objective is to develop professional experts, with specific understanding of areas like health, management, communications and physical activity, all linked with sports." He "highlighted how much Colombia means to Real Madrid because of its strong connections, like with Di Stéfano, who competed for Bogotá's Millonarios in the '40s and '50s," and with Real's recent signing of Colombian James Rodríguez (EFE, 10/7).
