League Notes: Greek Government Postpones Domestic Sports Following Fan's Death

The Greek government has "postponed all professional domestic sports matches this weekend after a football supporter died following stadium violence." Four people have been charged with attempted murder following the Ethnikos and Irodotos game on Sept. 15. Football, basketball and handball matches have all been postponed (BBC, 9/29). ... A "severe communication error" in the Bangladesh Cricket Board Umpires Committee led to suspended umpire Nadir Shah officiating the First Division Twenty20 semifinal match between Indira Road and BKSP on Monday, "only 18 months after he was handed a 10-year ban for his involvement in match fixing." BCB President Nazmul Hasan informed the media that the "10-year ban imposed on Nadir was never lifted and that a miscommunication piloted the debacle." He said, "I got to know about Nadir Shah officiating in matches through newspapers" (DHAKA TRIBUNE, 10/1).
