With McDonald’s New Zealand brand Georgie on board, New Zealand's premier Twenty20 cricket competition has a new name, new sponsor and new format. The Georgie Pie Super Smash will include six festival weekends at venues with lights, featuring a Friday night match, double headers on Saturdays and Sundays and 27 games live on SKY Sport, including 17 night matches and an expanded three-game finals weekend format (New Zealand Cricket). STUFF reported the national T20 competition "will open with back-to-back double-headers in Hamilton" on Nov. 1 and 2, with all six teams involved. The competition "will also wrap up at Hamilton's Seddon Park, as it did last summer," with the semifinals on Dec. 5 and 6, and the final on Dec. 7. NZC said that "improved at-ground entertainment would include a bigger kids areas, the Zing stumps, trade show elements, as well as working with venues to offer new food and beverage options" (STUFF, 9/30).
