Football Notes: Resale Sites Asking For Up To $1,800 For Tickets To Boca-River Superclásico

Internet sites reselling tickets for Sunday's Argentine first division Superclásico between Boca Juniors and host River Plate are "asking for as much as" 15,000 Argentine pesos ($1,800). Sources indicated that the last Superclásico hosted by River "moved nearly 300,000 Argentine pesos in ticket resale, lodging and merchandise sales." River Plate said in a statement that "everything circulating online is false and asked that fans not buy tickets from outside the sale system implemented by the club" (CLARIN, 9/30). ... Former Real Madrid and Barcelona players will "face off in an exhibition game" on Oct. 11 at Panama City's Rommel Fernández Stadium. Former Real Madrid players will include Carlos Santillana, Pedro Contreras, Fabio Cannavaro and Francisco Pavón. Enrique Martin Sánchez, Edgard Davids, Francesco Coco, Gaizka Mendieta Zabala and Jon Andoni Goikoetxea will be among the former Barcelona players. Tickets for the game will cost from $20-$125 (EFE, 9/30). ... Former Spanish second division side Girona goalkeeper Dani Mallo admitted in court on Sept. 2 that "he received an offer to buy" a game against Xerez in the '12-13 season. He said that days before the match, "an unnamed person called him and said that if Girona wanted to win the game, for €120,000, it was done" (MUNDO DEPORTIVO, 9/30).
