Swiss Ice Hockey Cup Makes Comeback; Winning Team To Earn $235,000

The Swiss Ice Hockey Cup "will make its comeback after a 48-year hiatus on Wednesday," according to Stephan Roth of BLICK. The Cup "is not only about athletic honors but also about a lot of money." Every participating club will receive 20,000 Swiss francs ($20,900) during the first round. During the round of 16, each club will earn another 20,000 Swiss francs. Each of the eight participating clubs in the quarterfinals will receive an additional 25,000 Swiss francs ($26,000). In the semifinals it will be another 40,000 Swiss francs ($41,800). The runner-up will bank a further 60,000 Swiss francs ($62,700), while the Cup winner receives 120,000 Swiss francs ($125,400). Overall, the winning club will earn a total of 225,000 Swiss francs ($235,000) (BLICK, 9/30).
