National Rugby League Side South Sydney Owner Russell Crowe To Stay With Club

National Rugby League side South Sydney is on the brink of achieving its "holy grail" but Owner Russell Crowe "has no intention of surrendering his ownership in the club if his mission is completed with a premiership on Sunday," according to Chris Barrett of the SYDNEY MORNING HERALD. The actor "was only seven years old" when the club was last in a grand final. Two years ago Crowe alluded to a need to sell his 37.5% share to "simplify" his life after splitting with wife Danielle Spencer, but Rabbitohs CEO Shane Richardson insisted that "Crowe has never raised the subject of walking away from the club with him." Richardson said, "Russell had a very emotional situation. He's poured a lot of emotion into the club as well and he was going through his challenges in life personally. But Russell has never once to me indicated to me that he was going to get out. Not one time" (SMH, 9/29).
