Pan-European Network Eurosport Aquires MotoGP TV Rights For Germany From '15-18

MotoGP rights holder Dorna Sports and Eurosport have agreed to an exclusive four-year TV and digital rights contract for Germany, meaning the network will be the exclusive MotoGP broadcaster to German audiences from '15-18. The agreement will provide German fans with live coverage in HD for all rounds in all three classes, MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3, including Friday’s free practice, Saturday’s qualifiers and Sunday’s races. Eurosport’s commentators and experts will be onsite, and joined at trackside, by an editorial team which will produce a customized feed enhancing the live action with interviews and reports at the Grands Prix each season. The agreement also encompasses exclusive digital rights in Germany for all races on the Eurosport Player, Eurosport’s dedicated online TV service (MotoGP). SPEEDWEEKS's Günther Wiesinger reported after six years on Sport1, which held the German TV rights since '09, "MotoGP moves to Eurosport." Sport1 paid €3.5M ($4.5M) annually for the rights, but "reduced its offer for the new rights period" (SPEEDWEEK, 9/25).
