Marketplace Roundup: Qatar Petroleum To Sponsor World Men's Handball Championship

Qatar Petroleum "signed a major sponsorship agreement with the 24th World Men's Handball Championship Organising Committee in Doha." The agreement positions Qatar Petroleum as a prestige partner for the first int'l men's handball world championship tournament in Qatar (QATAR TRIBUNE, 9/23). ... Former Serie A side Parma and Newcastle striker Faustino Asprilla "confirmed he will be launching a line of condoms in Colombia." Asprilla "revealed that production of his own line of condoms is already underway in China." The condoms, "planned to be on sale in Colombia initially, will be sold under the brand name 'Tino.'" Asprilla: "I think it’s a really cool idea. They'll hopefully be launched with a campaign to prevent unplanned teenage pregnancies" (London GUARDIAN, 9/25).

IRISH RULES: GAAGO, the int'l subscription-based online streaming service from the GAA and RTÉ Digital, has been announced as the team sponsor of Ireland’s Int'l Rules team. The sponsorship will see GAAGO.ie adorn the team’s jerseys in its upcoming test match against Australia at Patersons Stadium in Perth on Nov. 22, as well as team leisurewear and kit bags (RTE). ... The Pakistan Cricket Board announced title, presenting and other sponsors for the home series against Australia. The title sponsor for the series is Haier Pakistan, while Schon Properties is the presenting sponsor. The series will be called Schon Properties Presents Haier Cup 2014. The co-sponsors also include corporate entities Zong China Mobile and Brighto Paints (PCB). ... The Oman FA announced a "partnership with Power Horse." Power Horse will now be the OFA’s official energy drink (MUSCAT DAILY, 9/25).
