TV presenter GARY LINEKER posted "another obscene message on Twitter on Monday night hours after the BBC confirmed he would be warned against doing so following his reaction to Leicester City's" win over ManU. He tweeted, "As if they're bothered by swearing." He added, "At no time have the BBC warned me about any of my tweets." Lineker then "tried to make light of the matter" by posting, "Anyway enough of that! I'm done swearing until Leicester beat Manchester...f-------...City." (London TELEGRAPH, 9/22). ... Man City is open to the possibility of extending FRANK LAMPARD's loan move at the club, "but no agreement has been struck with New York City FC yet." Lampard, 36, "joined the Premier League champions until January from NYC FC, however, its inaugural Major League Soccer campaign does not begin until March" (ESPN, 9/23). ... Former Irish rugby player BRIAN O'DRISCOLL "stars in a film called 'Brian O'Driscoll's True Champions' to be aired on BT Sport" on Oct. 13. The film takes him on an "emotive personal journey where he witnesses the work of Active Communities Network, a youth and community development charity through which he comes to appreciate the power of mentors for those less fortunate than himself" (London INDEPENDENT, 9/23).

WORDS OF WISDOM: Europe Ryder Cup captain PAUL MCGINLEY has lined up former ManU Manager ALEX FERGUSON "to speak at the team dinner at Gleneagles on Tuesday evening." His presence "continues a recent tradition of star performers from other sports saying a few words in the team room" (London DAILY MAIL, 9/23). ... Super League side Leeds CEO GARY HETHERINGTON "has been charged by the Rugby Football League with improper conduct." Hetherington, "who is widely regarded as the most innovative and successful administrator in the game, will face an independent tribunal" on Oct. 1 over comments he made about the RFL’s investigation into homophobic comments alleged to have been made by the Leeds full-back ZAK HARDAKER (PA, 9/23). ... Just when you thought "it couldn't get worse" for National Rugby League side Cronulla, jerseys belonging to MICHAEL GORDON "were stolen from the car of teammate" ERIC GROTHE JR. Grothe "made a plea for the items to be returned after discovering his Ford Territory had been broken into." The former Roosters, Parramatta and New South Wales winger "had stored a number of Gordon's valuables -- including jerseys and trophies -- from the awards night." He "was poised to return them only to find the jerseys were pilfered" (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 9/23).

OLYMPICS: Olympic champion rower KATHERINE GRAINGER is "back in training and considering a bid to compete at the Rio 2016 Games." She will be 40 when the next Olympics take place. Grainger took "two years off from the sport" after winning Gold with ANNA WATKINS at London 2012 (BBC, 9/23). ... The Czech Olympic Committee has cleared cyclist ROMAN KREUZIGER of doping charges after "he had been banned from the sport for months over problems with his biological passport" (SPORT24, 9/22).
