League Notes: NRL Side Sydney Roosters Coach Credits Rule Changes For Exciting Finals

National Rugby League side Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson "believes changes to the rules this season that favour attacking teams have contributed to the exhilarating finals series where teams have surged to big scores only to have them chased down." He added, "I think the attacking advantage that's happened in the rule changes this year and some tweaks to that has given room for larger momentum changes" (THE AUSTRALIAN, 9/23). ... Balmain directors will be "officially removed" from National Rugby League side Wests Tigers board on Wednesday, "but the foundation club will still play a part in the appointment of a new coach after an agreement was struck giving the cash-strapped shareholder a say in key appointments at the joint venture." Wests Chair Marina Go confirmed an agreement had been reached that would "see Balmain continue to wield influence over key appointments at Wests Tigers." The first of those will be the "naming of a coach to replace Mick Potter next season" (THE AUSTRALIAN, 9/23).
