Former Amazon, Discovery and Viacom exec CALEB WEINSTEIN has resurfaced at Fox Int'l Channels. He "will oversee distribution of FIC’s channels in Europe and Africa as regional executive VP of affiliate distribution." Based in London, Weinstein will report to FIC President of Europe & Africa JAN KOEPPEN (DIGITAL TV EUROPE, 9/16). ... AVRAM GRANT "has followed in the footsteps" of former England Manager SVEN-GORAN ERIKSSON by becoming technical director at Thai club BEC Tero Sasana. The former Chelsea, Portsmouth and West Ham manager "was unveiled by the Thai Premier League club on Tuesday" (London DAILY MAIL, 9/17). ... Golf Australia has appointed golf journalist MARK HAYES as its new media manager. Hayes is a journalist of 25 years' experience, who has spent the past 14 years with News Ltd. in Melbourne. Hayes will begin his new role in November, in time for the Emirates Australian Open at The Australian Golf Club in Sydney. MARTIN BLAKE will be acting media manager until then (Golf Australia). ... IAN METCALFE, the chair of the professional game board of the Rugby Football Union, is to become the new chair of Commonwealth Games England. He succeeds ANDREW FOSTER, who has held the position since '07. Metcalfe is the former managing partner of U.K. law firm Wragge & Co. He previously played rugby for Sale and Moseley, captaining the latter between '85-87 (CGE).

COACHES/MANAGERS: Australian Football League club Adelaide has sacked coach BRENTON SANDERSON "just halfway through a four-year contract." The Crows surprised on Wednesday "when confirming the axing of Sanderson" (THE AUSTRALIAN, 9/17). ... EPL side Aston Villa Manager PAUL LAMBERT "has extended his contract at the club" until June '18. Lambert "has had two difficult seasons at Villa Park since he joined from Norwich" in the summer of '12. But Villa "made an excellent start this time around, winning three and drawing one of their four Premier League games." Lambert: "I'm delighted to have the support of our chairman, RANDY LERNER, and TOM FOX, our new chief exec, and I'm determined that we continue building the club to where we all want it to be" (London INDEPENDENT, 9/17). ... The "long running saga" over CARLOS QUEIROZ's future with Iran finally ended on Tuesday with the former Real Madrid and Portugal manager "agreeing a four-year extension to stick with the Asian side." Queiroz had said that "he would step down from the position upon their World Cup exit in June, complaining of a one-sided relationship with the Iranian Football Federation" (REUTERS, 9/17).
