Australian Football League Side Carlton To Split Home Matches At Etihad Stadium, MCG

Australian Football League side Carlton's "wish has been granted, with the Blues to play six home matches" at the Melbourne Cricket Ground from next season as "part of a new five-year deal," according to Jon Pierik of the SYDNEY MORNING HERALD. Carlton President Mark LoGiudice said that the new split "will see five home matches at Etihad Stadium, having had at least six there under the controversial 10-year agreement" struck in '04. The Blues had "initially suggested they wanted to play up to eight home games at the MCG." LoGiudice said the new agreement would "help members, the club and the two stadia." He said, "We have listened to feedback from our members who have expressed a desire for another game at the traditional home of football and I'm delighted that we have been able to deliver on that, while maintaining a strong presence at Etihad Stadium." The new agreement is "an important move by the Blues as they seek to rebound from a difficult" '14, when the club expects to "post a loss" of about A$500,000 ($448,400). Debt, however, "continues to fall, with this expected to be" about A$5.3M at the end of the year (SMH, 9/17).
