Media Notes: ESPN To Launch Southeast Asia Edition Of ESPNFC.com On Oct. 1

ESPN FC will unveil a new Southeast Asia edition of ESPNFC.com on Oct. 1. The launch was announced last week by ESPN at a launch event for the site in Singapore (ESPN). ... The European Commission has authorized "the proposed acquisition of Sky Deutschland AG and Sky Italia S.r.l. by BSkyB." The Commission concluded that the transaction "would not raise competition concerns, since the activities of the three companies are geographically complementary." The Commission found that the transaction "would not lead to any material overlaps in the parties’ activities, as they are mainly active in different national markets" (ADVANCED TELEVISION, 9/15).
