FFA Signs Deal With Sony As Naming-Rights Sponsor For Second-Tier Competitions

Football Federation Australia and Sony Computer Entertainment Australia announced PlayStation 4 as the inaugural official naming rights partner of the National Premier Leagues. The new sponsorship agreement with PlayStation 4 will see the semi-professional member federation-based competitions in Australian football branded as the "PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues" up until at least the end of the National Premier Leagues 2017 Finals Series and reflects the Sony group’s support of football at national and int'l levels. The partnership was announced in Melbourne by FFA CEO David Gallop at the launch of the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues 2014 Finals Series (FFA). FOX SPORTS' Matt Windley reported the deal is "a huge boost for the national second tier competition." Gallop: "It’s terrific to have a company of their world-wide status recognizing this level of Australian football. Elite pathways are so critical to the development of our players and seeing players come through the NPL system and in to the A-League is an important part of connecting the pieces of Australian football" (FOX SPORTS, 9/15).
