League Notes: National Rugby League To Crack Down On Players Faking Injuries

Players "feigning injury in the hope of drawing a penalty after the video referee has studied replays of a tackle are being forced to explain their actions" and could cost their clubs a A$10,000 ($9,000) fine if "they do not come from the field to undergo a concussion test" (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 9/15). ... The legality of transcripts used by the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority to "issue show-cause notices" against 34 current and former Australian Football League side Essendon players will be a "key factor when a Federal Court judge makes his ruling this week on the legality of an investigation into the Bombers' supplements program." Justice John Middleton will hand down his judgment at 1:30pm on Friday on "whether the investigation conducted by the AFL and ASADA last year was unlawful" (THE AGE, 9/15). ... Int'l Cycling Union (UCI) President Brian Cookson has described as "unacceptable" a cycling kit that "makes female riders look naked, promising his administration is 'on the case.'" Pictures of the Bogota Humana team "went viral over the weekend after being shared on social media." Many leading riders have "criticised the team and the riders for agreeing to wear the outfit" (London TELEGRAPH, 9/15).
