National Rugby League Side Parramatta Eels Investigating Allegations Of Harassment

National Rugby League side Parramatta Eels are "investigating evidence suggesting that former directors, staff and members were intimidated and harassed 'with the full knowledge'" of former Eels board and ex-CEO Bob Bentley, according to Chris Barrett of the SYDNEY MORNING HERALD. The Eels announced on Monday that former Eels Chair Roy Spagnolo "had been asked to stand down immediately from the Parramatta District Rugby League, which he continues to chair, pending the outcome of investigations" that have linked him and Bentley to "systematic membership tampering in the lead-up to last year's club elections." Eels officials also said that that members "allegedly involved in the club's membership tampering scandal will be called to explain their actions." Parramatta said in a statement that an investigation "has found evidence that indicates this behaviour was carried out with the knowledge of the previous PLC Board of Directors and the previous PLC CEO" (SMH, 9/15).
