Serie A side Sampdoria has presented its "new jersey, sponsored by "Sin City 3D," with Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez," according to FOOTBALL ITALIA. It begins a "collaboration between the club and Lucky Red films, so in future more special edition jerseys could be sponsored by upcoming cinema releases." A Lucky Red spokesperson said, "This jersey is the kick-off for our plan of communication. This is a new generation of sponsorship. We are in the era of social media and will make the most of it" (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 9/11). The London GUARDIAN reported Sampdoria currently has "no shirt sponsor" so club President Massimo Ferrero has "struck a deal with a distribution company to display film titles instead for the next three weeks." Ferrero also has plans to build "the biggest stadium in Europe" by the sea in Genoa. He claims to be in "negotiations with the local council to find a site to replace their current home at the Stadio Ferraris." Ferrero: "We'll build a stadium by the sea, where everyone can take their boats in and watch the game, taste the pesto and see the other attractions of Genoa" (GUARDIAN, 9/12).
