EPL Side Hull City Owner Assem Allam Reveals Club Has Been On Sale Since April

EPL side Hull City Owner Assem Allam said that he "put the club up for sale 22 hours after the decision to reject a change of name for the team was announced in April," according to Rory Dollard of the London INDEPENDENT. The Egyptian "addressed the media at the KC Stadium on Thursday and said he would either sell the club or stay in place if the appeal against the decision to block the change of name to Hull Tigers was reversed at the Court of Arbitration for Sport." He said that he "remained committed to the club until either the name was changed or a sale was completed, whichever came first." He did not "reveal what price he was looking for to sell." Allam: "Lately we have seen a lot of rumours around and I've decided it's better to clear the air. ... If the appeal comes first, okay, no harm done. If the sale comes first -- sold" (INDEPENDENT, 9/11). The BBC reported Allam said that an appeal was "being lodged against the name change rejection with the Court of Arbitration for Sport." Allam: "We stated earlier this year that the club would be for sale should our attempt to globally promote Hull Tigers as a brand name and as a playing name be blocked." He was asked "what he would do if a buyer could not be found and the legal appeal was dismissed." He said, "I will give it away. Out means I'm out. Have I ever said anything and gone back on it?" Allam added that he and son Ehab, who is the club's acting chief executive, "would remain committed to the club for the time being." He was "sketchy on whether there had been interest from potential buyers and indicated he may stay on should the appeal be successful" (BBC, 9/11).
