Bayern Munich President Karl Hopfner Takes Over As Supervisory Board Chairman

Bayern Munich "has a new supervisory board chairman," according to the DPA. Club President KARL HOPFNER took over the post after adidas CEO HERBERT HAINER "resigned from the position at his own request." The decision "was made during the supervisory board's scheduled meeting on Monday." Hainer took over as supervisory board chairman in March from ULI HOENEß, who "currently serves time for tax evasion." Hainer "will once again become vice-chairman of the board," a position which he also held under Hoeneß. Hopfner, who served as Bayern's long-time CFO, led the club together with former President Hoeneß and Exec Chair KARL-HEINZ RUMMENIGGE to the national and int'l top, and also "made it one of the economically most stable football clubs in the world." In addition to his two positions at Bayern, Hopfner "is a board member at the German Football League (DFL) and 1st vice chairman of the UEFA Club Competitions Committee" (DPA, 9/8).
