Season Ticket Sales Booming For Reigning La Liga Champion Atlético Madrid

Atlético Madrid's season ticket campaign has "exceeded all of the club's expectations," as the club has "already overtaken the figure of 44,000 season ticket holders set last season and the inscription period is still open," according to Juan Casáñez of AS. A "combination of the team's on-field success and shrewd pricing policy has resulted in fans flocking to renew their season tickets and new applications being made." The club's record sales came in '09-10 when 48,639 applications for season tickets were made. An Atlético season ticket for domestic league home games costs €325 ($419), an average of just more than €17 ($22) per game. At the moment, 81% of "the Calderón's capacity for the team's league games has been taken by season ticket holders." Atlético now has more than 71,000 club members, a "huge increase" since '09 (AS, 9/9).
