FIBA Europe Awards Germany Host Rights For EuroBasket 2015 Preliminary Round

The German national basketball team "will be playing in front of home fans in Berlin during the preliminary round of EuroBasket 2015," according to the SID. FIBA Europe awarded "one of the four groups to the German Basketball Federation (DBB)." The final round of the tournament, which is scheduled for Sept. 5-20, 2015, "will take place in Lille, France." The other preliminary round hosts are Montpellier, France; Zagreb, Croatia; and Riga, Latvia. EuroBasket 2015 "was re-awarded after original host Ukraine returned its hosting rights in the wake of political unrest in the country" (SID, 9/8).
