League Notes: Cycling Anti-Doping Foundation Announces No Adverse Findings At Tour

The Cycling Anti-Doping Foundation, responsible for conducting the 2014 Tour de France anti-doping testing program on behalf of the Int'l Cycling Union (UCI), has announced that all anti-doping test results have been delivered and that no adverse analytical findings have been recorded. With a ruling on the lawfulness of the Australian Football League side Essendon doping probe pending, an AFL commissioner -- and the AFL -- have "declined to confirm whether the league fulfilled its pledge to formally review the conduct of its own hierarchy through the ordeal." Former News Corp CEO Kim Williams, who joined the AFL Commission in February, "was asked at a Melbourne Press Club lunch on Wednesday for a progress report on the review" that was announced by former AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 9/3). ... The Australian Rugby Union is "holding a nationwide talent search for potential sevens players to represent the country when the sport makes its Olympic Games debut in Rio de Janeiro." The ARU on Wednesday "unveiled plans to discover the next generation of rugby sevens stars" when launching "Search for a Sevens Star" -- an initiative where "talent identification days" will be held on Oct. 26 in New South Wales, Queensland, the Australian Capital Territory, South Australia and Victoria (STUFF, 9/3).
