Football Notes: Ivory Coast Banned From Playing At Home Due To Ebola Fears

Ivory Coast's football federation said that it will not be allowed to host its African Nations Cup qualifier next week against Sierra Leone in Abidjan "because of fears over the Ebola virus." The Ivory Coast government "has told the football federation it will not allow the match to take place because all travel between the two countries has been banned" (REUTERS, 8/26). ... Argentine FA Secretary General Miguel Angel Silva confirmed that three first division games scheduled for Thursday have been suspended due to a "nationwide strike called by" Argentine trade union CGT (TELAM, 8/25).
