Facility Notes: Stadium Of Eastern Ukrainian Club Shakhtar Donetsk Damaged By Explosions

Eastern Ukrainian football club Shakhtar Donetsk's Donbass Arena "has been damaged by two explosions as unrest between national forces and pro-Russian separatists continues." No one "was injured in the blasts," which happened at 6am local time and "damaged communication equipment" (BBC, 8/23). ... The construction of Bulgarian football side Botev Plovdiv's Hristo Botev stadium "will restart next week" after club Owner Tsvetan Vasilev "decided to transfer his shares to his business partner Veselin Bushev." Botev has used the stadium on concession for 35 years and had announced plans to invest BGN 20M ($13.5M) "in an extensive refurbishment" (INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL, 8/22).
