IMG announced the hiring of longtime Ogilvy & Mather exec DOUG SCOTT as VP/Marketing & Brand Solutions. The position is a new one at IMG and is designed to add creative expertise to the company’s sales and consulting group. Scott will report to IMG President of Global Sales GREG D'ALBA and build out a creative team that will work alongside IMG consulting execs ED HORNE and BRET WERNER. Scott, who will be based in N.Y., will focus on helping brands develop content and expanding content and branding around properties IMG owns and operates. He previously oversaw OgilvyEntertainment, the branded content and entertainment division of Ogilvy & Mather. He also was a founder of Matter and exec VP at Hypnotic (Tripp Mickle, DAILY). ... Liga MX side UNAM Pumas named GUILLERMO VÁZQUEZ its new coach. Vázquez previously coached the club from '10-12. Pumas also named ANTONIO SANCHO SÁNCHEZ its new sporting VP (CNN MEXICO, 8/18). ... Stealth SME announced the appointment of ROB PONGER as president. Ponger will oversee the sports, media house, entertainment and consultancy divisions of Stealth. Most recently, Ponger served as senior VP of strategic planning and financial operations at IMG Worldwide. Ponger formerly served as business unit CFO of IMG's media division from '01-07. In '08, he moved into a senior VP of IMG corporate financial planning & analysis role and served as the senior VP, finance director -- IMG Fashion/Models. Ponger will be based in N.Y. at the Stealth SME headquarters (Stealth SME). ... Colombia coach JOSE PEKERMAN "has signed a contract extension that will keep him with the team until 2018." The Colombian football federation said that the 64-year-old Argentine "signed the four-year deal following a successful World Cup campaign in Brazil that saw the team reach the quarterfinals" (AP, 8/19). ... India has appointed former captain RAVI SHASTRI as director of cricket for the one-day int'l series against England as part of a "coaching shake-up" following the recent 3-1 test series defeat to the same opponents. DUNCAN FLETCHER "remains as head coach," but Shastri, who played 80 tests and 150 ODI matches, "has been placed 'overall in-charge of cricket affairs of the Indian team'" (REUTERS, 8/19). ... Former Pakistan Foreign Secretary SHAHARYAR KHAN "was appointed as chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board." It will be Khan's second stint as PCB chairman. His prevous three-year tenure ended in '06 when Pakistan forfeited a test match against England (AP, 8/19).
