Spanish Court Tells Spanish Football League To Reinstate Real Murcia In Second Division

A Madrid court has reviewed an appeal from Spanish club Real Murcia President Jesús Samper and ordered the Spanish Football League (LFP) to "allow the club to participate in the second division," despite having suffered administrative relegation to the third tier for "economic reasons," according to José Antonio Vera of AS. This "suspends the LFP's decision," including the $240,800 fine it had imposed (AS, 8/13). The EP reported the LFP on Wednesday published a statement "in which it assured that as of today, Real Murcia 'could not be registered' in the second division." The LFP's statement said, "Regarding reports published by various media outlets on Real Murcia's eventual inclusion, the LFP reiterates that to date, the club will not be registered during the upcoming season." The body stated "three points on which it is basing its decision." In the first, the LFP assured it "is legally unable to proceed to register Real Murcia." The LFP's statement continued, "As of today, the resolution is final, according to what is established in article 89 of the LFP's social statutes and has been confirmed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on August 8." The LFP also said that it had not received "any official notification from the court" regarding the subject (EP, 8/13).
