Mexican Baseball League Side Diablos Rojos Eye New Possible Home In Azcapotzalco

Mexican Baseball League (LMB) side Diablos Rojos "is evaluating what its next step will be in determining where it will play its games" during the '15 season, according to LA AFICION. The club is "considering it almost a fact that it will not be able to use its current facility at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez's Foro Sol" due to F1's return to Mexico City. A new option for Diablos Rojos would be to build a new stadium at the Deportivo de los Ferrocarrileros complex, a site of approximately 100,000 square meters located in the Mexico City district of Azcapotzalco. This "was proposed as the only site with the characteristics the club is looking for to be able to build a ballpark." Azcapotzalco government official Sergio Palacios said, "I believe this land meets all the requirements that the Diablos are looking for to build a stadium. Also, Azcapotzalco is Mexico City's cradle of baseball. Not to offer something that is not ours, but we are presenting this option, the space is there and we have to combine efforts to achieve this." Diablos Rojos have been working on a plan to build their own stadium in Mexico City since '05, but "have not been able to finalize a project as they have not been able to find the land to do it" (LA AFICION, 7/29).
