After "recently being touted as the favourite to replace Potter next season, Payten is understood to be on the outer with the current Tigers board -- a development that may create further friction at the joint-venture club" (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 7/28). ... Int'l Cycling Union (UCI) President Brian Cookson has "called upon Alexandr Vinokourov and Bjarne Riis, the heads of the two most prominent teams in this year's Tour de France, to testify before the independent commission on cycling's doping history as a way of helping the sport move on from its past" (London GUARDIAN, 7/28).
