Former Bayern Munich President Uli Hoeneß Hoping For Early Prison Release

Former Bayern Munich President ULI HOENEß, "who currently serves a prison sentence for tax evasion, could be out of prison earlier than expected," according to the AFP. His lawyers "are reportedly preparing paper work to reduce his sentence." Should the request be granted, Hoeneß "could be out let out on parole starting as early as September." According to Bavarian state laws, a prison sentence "can be reduced to probation halfway through the prison term." In Hoeneß' case that would be after 21 months in March '16. However, 18 months before a prisoner is released, he or she "can hope to be granted day parole, which would mean Hoeneß could work during the day and only has to return to prison to sleep." Hoeneß "was sentenced to three-and-a-half years for tax evasion and started his prison sentence at the beginning of June" (AFP, 7/20).
