Event Notes: Basketball Bundesliga To Host 2015 BBL Top Four In Oldenburg

The Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) announced that Oldenburg will for the first time host the BBL Top Four in '15. The 6,000-seat EWE Arena will host the semifinals and final of the cup competition on April 5-6 (BBL). ... In Glasgow, "lawn bowls might just be the hottest ticket in town." The sport, "often associated with pensioners and barefoot social gatherings, is so popular in Scotland that Commonwealth Games tickets have all but sold out." Australian captain Lynsey Clarke said that she expects Scotland to be her team's "biggest threat." She said, "The grandstands are really big and it will probably be the biggest crowd we'll ever play in front of. Scottish supporters are very vocal, they're very loud and they're very patriotic. So I'm sure they'll be sledging us a bit, but that's OK" (AAP, 7/17). ... IMG-Reliance broadcast partner and co-promoter Star "wants to postpone" the inaugural Indian Super League since it is "clashing with the Champions League Twenty20." CLT20 cricket is "likely to start" Sept. 7 while the All India Football Federation has given IMG-Reliance a Sept. 18-Dec. 7 window (IANS, 7/17).
