Spanish Football Bodies Agree To Keep Copa Del Rey Format As Is Through 2018

Despite "doubts about possible tweaks in terms of the format of Spain's Copa del Rey, no changes are expected to be made to the current model of the tournament," according to Ramón Fuentes of MARCA. A new agreement between the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and the Spanish Football League (LFP) will "see the format of the Copa del Rey remain the same for the next four years." The new agreement "presents no major changes from the recently concluded Copa del Rey." Clubs from Spain's third and fourth tiers will continue to receive around €4.5M ($6.1M), as established in the agreement between the RFEF and the LFP (MARCA, 7/14).
