LUIS GARCÍA has been named head coach of UAE Arabian Gulf League side Baniyas. García coached La Liga side Getafe during the '13-14 season before being sacked in March. He is "expected to sign a two-year contract including an option for an extension" (LIBERTAD DIGITAL, 7/10). ... La Liga side Deportivo La Coruña has named VÍCTOR FERNÁNDEZ its new coach. Fernández, who has coached 514 La Liga games in his career, was sacked by his most recent club, Belgium side KAA Gent, in October (AS, 7/10). ... South Korean men's national football team heach coach HONG MYUNG-BO "announced his resignation Thursday in the wake of the country’s winless World Cup, just a week after receiving a vote of confidence from the sport’s national governing body." Hong coached 19 matches with a record of five wins, four draws and 10 losses. This is the "third coaching change for South Korea since late 2011" (KOREA HERALD, 7/10).
