More Than 19 Million Watch NED-ARG World Cup Semifinal Matchup On ARD

German public broadcaster ARD "attracted more than 19 million viewers to its broadcast of the Netherlands-Argentina World Cup semifinal match on Wednesday," according to Sidney Schering of QUOTENMETER. A total of 19.52 million viewers tuned in to watch the match starting at 10pm. The game "was the most-watched World Cup game -- not featuring the German national team -- on German TV," beating the previous best of 17.22 million viewers who watched the round of 16 matchup between the Netherlands and Mexico. In the target demographic 14-49, Argentina's 4-2 win after penalty kicks was watched by 7.74 million viewers and obtained a market share of 71.2%. The game's overall market share was 72.9% (QUOTENMETER, 7/10).
