Austria Vienna To Increase Stadium Capacity, Invest More Than $61M In Infrastructure

Austrian football Bundesliga side Austria Vienna "will invest in its infrastructure," according to the ORF. As part of a larger project, the club "will increase the capacity of the Generali-Arena to 17,000 by '17." Austria Finance Dir Markus Kraetschmer said, "If there's one thing we've learned from the Champions League, it's the experience that clubs which want to be successful have invested in infrastructure." The club expects "to receive a construction permit by the end of the year." The construction itself "is supposed to start in the summer of '15." The infrastructure project "will have a price tag" of €45M ($61.3M). The cost "also includes the expansion of the club's youth academy and the modernization of its training facility" (ORF, 7/7).
