Former Cricketer Sunil Gavaskar Revealed As Part-Owner Of Singapore IPTL Team

Former cricket player Sunil Gavaskar "was revealed on Wednesday night as a team owner in tennis’s answer to the Indian Premier League, as entrepreneur and doubles specialist Mahesh Bhupathi held a cocktail party for investors a mile from the gates of the All England Club," according to Simon Briggs of the London TELEGRAPH. Gavaskar "is one of four men sharing ownership of the Singapore franchise in the International Premier Tennis League, which Bhupathi plans to launch in December." Gavaskar said, “I am a big tennis lover and I have followed the careers of Mahesh and his old doubles partner Leander Paes for years" (TELEGRAPH, 6/18). In Mumbai, Prajwal Hegde wrote Gavaskar, along with Intex Group Chair Kishan Gehlot from East Africa, Avvashya group Chair Shashi Shetty and Dubai's Channel 2 Chair Ajay Sethi "jointly own the Singapore franchise which will include a star cast of Tomas Berdych, Andre Agassi, Lleyton Hewitt, Serena Williams, Bruno Soares, Patrick Rafter, Daniela Hantuchova and Nick Krygios." Micromax Promoter & co-Founder Rahul Sharma and Micromax CMO Shubhodip Pal "were present at the London event" (TIMES OF INDIA, 6/19).
