Glasgow 2014, the Scottish Government and Glasgow City Council will break new ground for a major sports event by hosting an int'l summit for social change through sport. The Organizing Committee and Games Partners are teaming up with Beyond Sport to bring together sports and civic leaders to explore the Games' potential social impact. The event, staged in partnership with Dell, will take place July 21 (Glasgow 2014). ... India will play the Asian Rugby Football Union's Asian 5 Nations (A5N) Division-III Tournament (West) at the National Stadium in Lahore from Wednesday through Sunday. The final leg of the tournament will feature Uzbekistan, Lebanon, India and host Pakistan (IANS, 6/17). ... The World Taekwondo Federation will hold the WTF Para-Taekwondo Championships in Moscow on Saturday and Sunday. It will be the WTF's "largest event ever, with 121 athletes from 40 countries competing in the fifth staging of the event" (KOREA TIMES, 6/16). ... Organizers of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary next year, announced the event will run from Jan. 15-18 at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club. The Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority and title sponsor HSBC confirmed that preparations are in full swing ahead of the milestone (Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship). ... The first day of tickets onsale, combined with last weekend's presale, brought a record amount of interest in rugby in the U.S., as officials announced sales to date have eclipsed 30,000, over half of the total capacity for the USA Eagles' match against the New Zealand national team's All Blacks, presented by AIG, at Soldier Field in Chicago on Nov. 1. The All Blacks will visit the U.S. for an int'l match for the first time since '80. NBC will provide live broadcast coverage of the match in Chicago, which kicks off at 3pm CT Nov. 1 (USA Rugby).
