Real Madrid Fans Celebrate Club's Champions League Crown; 50,000 Pack Bernabéu

Real Madrid fans' celebration following the team's 4-1 win over Atlético in Saturday's Champions League final lasted until 6am Sunday morning at Madrid's Cibeles fountain, according to Felipe Betim of EL PAIS. On Sunday, a caravan of Real Madrid players "left the team facility at 8:30pm to pass through the streets of the capital." The first stop came at the Madrid City Council, where the team met with Madrid Mayor Ana Botella. The "caravan made its final stop at the Bernabéu, where players offered the trophy to the fans" (EL PAIS, 5/25). The AP reported about "50,000 Real Madrid fans" packed the team's stadium on Sunday. The celebrations of Real's victory "carried on through the Spanish capital" the night after the European champions "arrived home in the early hours." The "party continued later Sunday night at the Bernabeu, where a laser show and the chants of thousands of fans honored Madrid's players and coaching staff in a rock concert atmosphere" (AP, 5/25).
