Organizers Say Ticket Sales For Russian GP Are Strong, 45K Expected To Attend

Organizers of F1’s Russian Grand Prix, which is to debut this coming October, are boasting of high demand for tickets, expecting more than 45,000 people to attend the event scheduled for Sochi's Olympic Park. "Demand for tickets is high," Sergei Vorobyov, deputy general director of Omega, a company in charge of organizing the Russian F1 round, told business daily Vedomosti. "We have received over 30,000 preorders." He added that most of those who preordered tickets wanted more than one, which leads Omega to forecast sales of more than 45,000 tickets. The cheapest three-day ticket will cost 5,000 rubles ($145). Prices for other levels of tickets have not been announced. The Russian GP will be held in Sochi on Oct. 12.
