Basketball Bundesliga Sets New Regular Season Attendance Record With 1.375 Million

The Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) set a new attendance record during the '13-14 regular season. A total of 1,375,179 people attended the league's 306 regular-season games. The number translated into an average attendance of 4,494, which is an increase of 4.73% in comparison to last season (4,291). Across the whole league, arenas were filled to 85.2% of their capacities. The arenas in Bamberg, Ulm, Vechta and Würzburg recorded 100% capacity during the regular season. Alba Berlin led all teams with a total attendance of 180,894 for its 17 home games -- an average of 10,641 supporters per game. BBL Managing Dir Jan Pommer said, "The numbers are once again very positive and show again that the clubs do outstanding work at their respective locations" (BBL).
