Man City Yet To Agree To Sanctions With UEFA Over Financial Fair Play Violations

Man City is "still a long way off agreeing a settlement" with UEFA over sanctions for breaking Financial Fair Play rules, according to the PA. The club has until the end of the week to "agree to the sanctions or face the case being handed to a panel for a non-negotiable decision." Man City is one of nine European clubs, also including Ligue 1 side Paris St. Germain, which is being dealt with for "rule breaches, and it is understood they are one of those furthest from reaching an agreement." The initial settlement offer made to City included "financial restrictions on their Champions League squad for next season, and possibly a cut in the size of it, as well as a heavy fine." Neither City nor UEFA would comment but it "is understood the club have been negotiating forcefully for a significant reduction in that sanction but have been struggling to make progress." The risk, however, is that "if they are unable to agree a deal" with UEFA, then City could face "even stiffer sanctions from the European game's club financial control board's adjudicatory panel" (PA, 5/5).
